Overview

This bridge is a very long PC bridge belonging to part of the Hokkaido Longitudinal Expressway motorway, and located on the south side of Toya Lake and Usu Mountain. The bridge length of 1,772.5 meters makes this the longest PC highway bridge in Japan. Features of construction include the use of the large moving scaffolding method for spans A1 to P34 in the Osarukawa west construction area to reduce the construction period, whereas, for spans P34 to P37 in the East construction area, the overhanging erection method was used due to large space under the girder, and the fixed scaffolding method was applied for spans P37 to A2.
